Why is there only an email address as a contact mechanism?
The idea for this site originated from the desire to provide a unique forum for examining and discussing philosophy and politics. Our roots are unabashedly Randian (0bjectivist) and radical libertarian, and, accordingly, the basic premises of the from Reason to Freedom site are as follows:
- Existence (reality) is objective, it is what it is, independent of human consciousness.
- Reality is comprehensible by human reason, which is the faculty that perceives, identifies, and integrates the material of the senses.
- Just as reason is the means to knowledge and, ultimately, survival, it is the foundation for life-furthering value judgments.
- Human beings are ends in themselves, not a means to the ends of others; they live for their own sakes, and seek their own spiritual fulfillment and happiness, neither sacrificing themselves to others nor sacrificing others to themselves.
- The community to be cherished is voluntary. No one has the right to initiate force against or aggress upon another, and the only valid function of government is to prevent and remedy aggression and adjudicate civil disputes.
But the point of the site is not simply discussion and examination, but advocacy. At this first decade of the 21st century, we are in a position to help determine the future. from Reason to Freedom intends to lend a strong voice to the humanist choir singing the gospel of our highest spiritual fulfillment through mindful gathering and release of creative energy.
First, practically, the state will go away, to the eternal reward of us all. We will tend to our own self-improvement in cooperation with others learning to do the same. In technology, we will extend our individual lives in time and vigor, as we extend our consciousness and bodies into colonization of the solar system, then the galaxy. These extensions of life will soon become natural to us. The expansion of the rational and benevolent human spirit throughout the cosmos is our ultimate goal.
Our goal is to use the power of the reasoning mind to establish a free and benevolent society, a society in which we are proud of one another as thinking, courageous, cooperative human beings. We wish to:
- provide a forum for ideas to guide us toward a future in which human happiness is normal
- share experiences that shed both light and warmth on the human condition
Humanity has immense potential. If we work intelligently for a better society, it will be ours.

While we love comments, and believing in free speech will allow you to say almost anything, we are also libertarians and believe in value for value. We also hate spam, so, if you make a witty, insightful comment that adds value to our site visitors, please feel free to leave your web address in the Homepage box. If you later find it has been removed, well, try again next time...

One word, "NO!" Don't do it. Site scrapping is a blatant form of theft and we will report you to your hosting firm, their hosting firm, and their hosting firm ad nauseum until we get you and whoever defends you to lose your accounts. We're libertarian and theft is definitely one of our bigger issues.
If you wish to use our feed in a polite and civilized manner, where you are creating proper outbound links that do provide proper page rank benefits to us, then please, by all means feel free to add our feed(s) to your site. A mutually beneficial relationship is all we ask for. If we like your material enough, there is a good chance we will in turn link back to you.
If you just want to copy our feed to your site, use some form of outbound link re-direct or other mechanism to stiff us from receiving SEO benefits for your use of our material, then you're a Feed Jacker and what you are doing is theft. We may politely ask you to stop, if ignored, we will pursue means to tarnish your reputation or cause you to lose your hosting account(s).
No Unsolicited Commercial Email (UCE, i.e. Spam) is accepted at this domain. If you feel you have a solicitation for commercial email, you are wrong. This domain does not "opt-in," or solicit for your spam.
All UCE received by this domain is forwarded with full headers to both the U.S. Federal Trade Commission for legal actions and to SpamCop for inclusion in blacklist database(s).
To reiterate, this is official notice that this entire domain of email addresses "opt-out," of all past, present, and future consideration for any message that even vaguely resembles a commercial solicitation, chain letter, virus, or any other message that loosely falls under the definition of SPAM.

As stated above we do not accept Unsolicited Commercial Email in any form. So, please terminate your client's account for TOS violations.
If you feel you must support clients engaged in un-ethical activities, inform your client(s) to remove all addresses in the ReasonToFreedom.com/.net/.org domain from any and all of their, and your, email lists. Again, all UCE received by this domain is forwarded with full headers to both the U.S. Federal Trade Commission for legal actions and to SpamCop for inclusion in blacklist database(s).

No information you share with us is voluntarily distributed to third parties without your express written (and/or electronic) consent.
Please, by all means, use a blind, one-off email address when corresponding with us. It won't hurt our feelings, and we will reply just the same.

The limited contact information is intentional and provides the main benefit of limiting unsolicited commercial communications (junk mail and sales calls).
We also apologize that the mailto: links have been modified to require manual addition of our domain name. Unfortunately robotic spam harvesters are a fact of life.
