Wild Vines Strawberry White Zinfandel California

Another wine from the rather large stable of Gallo, and in a nutshell, it’s a girlie wine. The wine is cloyingly sweet like several Zins I’ve tasted, but with something that at least tastes like strawberry added. Two curious notes: it’s the only wine I’ve ever seen with a nutrition label, and the list of ingredients says it doesn’t contain any juice. So were exactly did the strawberry taste come from?

Where do you start? I know it’s a popular wine and also know it’s not going to be a typical White Zinfandel. There’s a lovely clear, bright almost peach color, with no structure to the wine. There is also plenty of strawberry taste to this wine and not really anything else. Believe it or not it’s better than the Beaujolais Nouveau I tried earlier, but this wine is still going to come across as tarted up fruit juice. This might be good on a hot summer day, I suppose. A grade may not be possible as I’m not sure I can really call it wine. Serve very cold. And my publisher owes me a favor….
