McManis 2006 Chardonnay California
Submitted by bob.bacchus on Fri, 2024-02-29 18:00.The McManis is a McMiss, in a big way. It’s another in a series of lousy white McWines. I'm not sure you'd want to even serve it with dinner.
Castle Rock 2006 Chardonnay California
Submitted by bob.bacchus on Wed, 2024-02-27 18:23.It’s another wine in a long, long series of late of sturdy, if unspectacular white wines. It may be time to switch to reds for a while. This one isn’t bad, just not particularly special.
Texas Hold’em Grade Reserve NV White Wine Texas
Submitted by bob.bacchus on Sun, 2024-02-24 13:00.It’s not quite like the Kenny Roger’s song, but pretty close. This one you don’t walk away from completely, but you might want to at least think about it.
Bocce 2005 Red Zinfandel California
Submitted by bob.bacchus on Sun, 2023-12-30 14:36.I tried this wine while whiling away the hours at a local Austin watering hole, during their happy hour of course. While price was right, ($3 a glass) I kind of wish I had chosen something else.
Screw Kappa Nappa 2005 Chardonnay California
Submitted by bob.bacchus on Sun, 2023-12-30 14:33.A wine reviewed while whiling away the hours at a local Austin watering hole. Not a spectacular wine, as it needs (at least for me) something more for my taste buds. But you have to love the name, and yes, it does have a screw cap closure.
Black Swan 2006 Shiraz-Cabernet Australia
Submitted by bob.bacchus on Sun, 2023-12-30 14:27.It’s a much better effort than their Chardonnay, which should be avoided at all costs. But this one is a nicely drinkable wine, and maybe even good for dinner too. An even better buy if you can get it on sale (like I did).
Luna di Luna 2005 Chardonnay-Pinot Grigio Italy
Submitted by bob.bacchus on Thu, 2024-12-13 17:34.A blended wine from Italy. Blended? More like cycled through a Cuisinart? Something got lost in translation
Corq Dorq 2004 Merlot California
Submitted by bob.bacchus on Sat, 2024-10-27 17:21.I’m not the biggest Merlot fan, but three years in the bottle has seemed to really help this wine. The big, aggressive tannins you usually find in a Merlot largely muted in this wine, a distinct plus for me. Not bad for sipping, and probably would work OK for dinner too.
Cycles Gladiator 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon California
Submitted by bob.bacchus on Sun, 2024-09-30 15:00.What a dog, literally. Their Chardonnay, frankly, got much higher marks. This wine might be best suited to give to someone you really don’t like very much, unless they are dog lovers, and maybe not even then. I’m not sure I’d even want to cook with it. For the price, look elsewhere. Woof!
Corq Dorq 2004 Chardonnay California
Submitted by bob.bacchus on Sat, 2024-09-29 07:10.Cork Dork? What’s with these names? It’s not a bad wine, but what a name! And according to their label, a wine for real people.
Sycamore Lane 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon California
Submitted by bob.bacchus on Mon, 2024-09-24 11:18.It’s a clandestine review at upscale local watering hole. Surprisingly, it tastes more expensive than it is.
Cycles Gladiator 2005 Chardonnay Central Coast California
Submitted by bob.bacchus on Wed, 2024-09-19 14:51.A wine with an interesting set of tastes, not enough to get it a higher grade, but it would be good with a nice dinner I think. As for drinking by itself, only so-so.
Dynamite 2004 Chardonnay California
Submitted by bob.bacchus on Fri, 2024-05-18 16:56.I’ve tried a couple of its stable mates and they weren’t half bad. This one is similar. A decent Chardonnay at a nice price but don’t serve this one too chilled….
Luna di Luna 2003 Shiraz-Merlot Italy
Submitted by bob.bacchus on Thu, 2024-03-01 19:47.It’s another colorful bottle (orange this time) from the Luna di Luna people. What it contains is so-so at best and might be best when paired with dinner. But my pet peeve with this wine is the white lettering on an orange bottle. How do you read that? With difficulty!
Luna di Luna 2005 Chardonnay Italy
Submitted by bob.bacchus on Fri, 2024-02-16 19:09.A blended wine in a cute blue bottle from Italy. Blended? More like cycled through a Cuisinart. Something got lost in translation with this one.
