Pros and Cons of Real ID?
Another day, another search phrase that boggles the mind...
Phrase: “Pros and Cons of Real ID” [Google, second results page, 2 results*]
Okay, so maybe I'm getting on my high horse a little ahead of schedule, maybe someone just wants to know more about how bad things could be under what the Hitler, Nazi dream the REAL ID act accomplishes. Somehow I doubt it, but hey, lets take it as a real fact finding mission, because even though many of the US States have told the Feds. to piss up a rope on the Act, the NeoCon control junkies just reinvented it by using Social Security cards as the “Your Papers, Please” of the new American era. Summed up nicely by Butler Shaffer:
"America is becoming the Nazi Germany we feared in my childhood. For those who were not around during those years, you can get a flavor for the anti-tyrannical sentiments of the time by watching any number of movies depicting the Nazi police-state. The constant presence of police; the insistence upon showing "your papers" to whichever government underling demanded them; the awareness that neither your person nor home was immune from state searches or seizures; the disappearance of people into unknown prison camps; neighbors spying upon neighbors, and children betraying their parents to the state; and the domination of society by a military and bureaucratic arrogance, arbitrariness, and absolutism, were constantly chilling examples of the dangers of state power."
The Cons are pretty much everything the Nazis stood for, and seriously do you really want to live in that type of environment? Doubtful, but if you do, could you move somewhere else? Or at the very least, just not vote ever again? Please? I'm just not that fond of my friends, family, or even neighbors I barely know just 'disappearing' to places like Gitmo.
The Pros, yes there are some, are almost all related to convenience. But generally for a government goon and not the individual identification paper holder. If done perfectly correctly, and ignoring the graft, corruption, and making identity theft oh so much easier, the utopia extreme would be the convenience of only needing to carry a single ID for everything. Fill up your car, buy groceries, be extorted of value by the Department of Motor Vehicles or Property Taxes guys, or whatever, just swipe your 'good for everything' ID card, and your money is automajically deducted from your 'life' account and presto, you've saved an extra twelve seconds on every transaction...

So, whoever you were that came looking for the Pros and Cons of the REAL ID act, hopefully one of the two pages you landed on opened your mind to the badness it is. Hopefully you stayed long enough and read enough and thought enough to realize the horror of the REAL ID act (and the recent morphing of it to the Social Security ID system). With even more hope, you are going to become a political freedom fighter and start actively fighting against corruption and Nazism in all of its forms.
Here's to you in hope,
