Bob Bacchus is the head wine reviewer at from Reason to Freedom. When we get uppity or feel ornery enough to tease him, we call him our Sommelier or Head Nose. He along with his drinking buddy Silenus drink bad wines so you don't have too.

Silenus' Wine Choices
My choices in wines are the deep reds; cabernets, pinots, zinfandels. I tend to sample, and review on, the lower end of the price scale, looking for the best of the worst (and thereby ending up with the worst of the worst in many cases). Most of the wines I'll review aren't great and as such, shouldn't be drunk by themselves. Alone they are generally tart or bitter or just lack in structure or depth. But combine them with a complementary food or appetizer and many become surprisingly good. Which is generally the key with cheap wine, find a complement to overcome its swill like shortcomings.
A tasty cheap red wine, and I'm a satisfied customer. They may not be complex, but they do hit the spot.
