Latest Republican / Limbaugh joke

Q: What do you call people who listen to Rush Limbaugh?

A: Sheep

A friend relayed this joke to me at dinner the other night. She said it came from a talk show, but she couldn't remember which one. After hearing the joke, I'd like to listen to the show, so if anyone knows where it came from, would you be so kind as to leave a comment with a link to the talk show?

Thanks,

MJ

No, people who listen to the

No, people who listen to the "mainstream news media" would be sheep. You know, people who buy into B.S. like global warming, a bad economy, tax cuts for the rich are bad or any number of other fallacies. Rush is a beacon and tells the truth daily; he merely echoes what millions already think.

Millions think fascism is a good mindset?

Well, thanks for the comment, but it would be nice if you would support your statements.

Seriously though, it must be much easier to allow someone else to define what you should think.

And while I do think the country is headed down the fascist path, I'd hate to think that "millions already think" fascism is a proper mindset.

Best of luck to you,
MJ

RUSH loudly rips the tenets

RUSH loudly rips the tenets of Fascism and Socialism daily. Moreover, he has been a fairly consistent critic of Bush as well (i.e., education spending, the new tone, immigration, etc.) The reason the joke isn't funny is that, like all good humor, there has to be an element of truth to it. Great website, EJ

Don't like Sheep? How about Lemming?

> The reason the joke isn't funny is that, like all good humor, there has to be an element of truth to it.

Ah, come on! Sheep fits exactly! You're going to tell me that self avowed, "Ditto," "DittoHead," "DittoNation," etc. don't fit the definition of sheep? We are talking about the same "Ditto" right?

Ditto
Definition:
1. The same as stated above or before.
2. A duplicate; a copy.

Relations:
pattern oneself on, take as a model, take a leaf out of another's book, follow, follow suit, tread in the steps of, follow the leader, follow, echo, ditto, reecho, chorus, repeat, follow precedent, follow another's example, join in the cry, jump on the bandwagon, conform

I especially like the "conform" and "follow the leader" phrases.

And last I remember Rush Limbaugh said the Abu Ghraib prison guards were "just having a good time" and "blowing off some steam" for raping children among other things. And he did seem to support the Patriot Act, well until it bit him in the ass on that whole banking withdrawal thing.

Okay, you don't like Sheep, so how about Lemming?

That work better for you?

MJ

PS: All above sarcasm aside, please, do your own research and start thinking for yourselves.

Thinking is easy

Thinking for yourself is great but so is listening before judging. "Dittos" does not mean what the dictionary says when it relates to Rush's show. It simply means, love the show, keep it up and don't ever stop. No children have been raped by our military. The prisoners in Abu Ghriab would kill both you and me given half a chance. Morover, I know plenty of people who "think" for themselves and they are the dumbest people I know. Opinions are not facts, just because you think something doesn't make it so. Truth is truth regardless of originality. I quote and translate the philosphies of Ayn Rand in every political paper I write or argument I make. Capitalsim and maximum freedom are what I care about most and if I repeat such tenets that came from the mind of others, my arguments are no less effective. I'm smart enough to know that I'm not as smart as F.A. Hayek, Milton Friedman, John Locke, Walter Williams or Thomas Sowell. Some of your attitudes may relate to the popularity of this site and your movement. However, I like it, so keep it up, thanks, EJ

Thinking for Oneself

I've been prompted by several people to reply to EJ, as they indicate that by not rebutting EJ's position I'm supposedly endorsing it. And here I thought that it was perfectly clear that EJ's own statements had derailed EJ's arguments.

But okay, I'll address the points, even the ones that don't pertain to Limbaugh and his sheep. [1]

A) If you don't join the rest of society in using the agreed upon definitions for words, then, uhm, you're delusional at best and further argument on my part is a waste of my time. Which is why I hadn't bothered to reply until being prodded by others into doing it.

B) Yes, there is evidence (and I believe now convictions) of the US military raping children in Iraq. And given the broad based nature of your statement, statistically there almost has to have been some child raped by some member of the US military at some point in history.

C) What does the mental state of prisoners in "Abu Ghriab" have to do with this discussion? Of course they're pissed off and angry with Americans. We illegally invade their country, then lock them up, and then torture them. Would you be civil at that point?

D) "Think for yourself" implies just that. You think. e.g. You decide by reasoning, weighing or considering an idea, using judgment, and deliberating to come to a decision. But, as has been said many times over, "Garbage in, Garbage out." If the people you are referring to are not using facts to base their thinking on, then they might make statements like; "No children have been raped by our military."

E) Your mind is fine, so why limit yourself? I'll presume to suggest you should dig deeper into topics you are going to debate, and personally I wouldn't revere Friedman that quickly. See:

Of the dead, speak nothing but truth
The Libertarian Enterprise
by L. Neil Smith

"Working for the lying, tyrannical, murderous Franklin Roosevelt Administration during the Second World War, Milton Friedman actually invented tax withholding, so that delivering a substantial fraction of our living substance to the state in each paycheck could be rendered as painless as possible, and therefore much less likely to trigger any sort of revolt. It's worth noting that Roosevelt was re-elected three times. Can a lifetime of 'good works' make up for something like that? I don't know. I don't know how even to begin measuring moral debt of that magnitude."

Okay, I'm doubtful I would revere anyone on your, or any, list. They may have made great intellectual and philosophical strides, but everyone has their own peculiarities and drawbacks. That also doesn't mean you can't sift the knowledge anyone presents for usefulness.

Best Regards,
MJ

[1] You do understand that the vast majority of Limbaugh's listeners are just that. Sheep. He gently guides them exactly where he wants them to go.

Rush!

Are you sure when you say beacon, it's not as a siren luring ships to their doom? :) I've watched Rush long enough to know that between Rush and the "mainstream media" the truth tends to between those two extremes. I'm always trying to read between the lies.

This guy is an obvious

This guy is an obvious Retard. Anyone ho would defend a closet homosexual and lying blowhole, has to be a [expletive deleted*] retard.
