[fRtF] 2/23 - The Long March towards Freedom: Will the LP be the vehicle for realizing America's Vision?

Thought of the moment:
"If the Cocaine Industry had commissioned a consultant to design a mechanism to insure profitability, it couldn't have done better than the War on Drugs."
- Nancy Gertner, US District Court Judge

If you were wondering why the LP is stalled and spinning its wheels you will be glad to know that there is a reason. You will also be heartened to know that there is a solution that will bring in new recruits, eager to work for change that fulfills the original Mission Statement Thomas Jefferson set out in the Declaration of Independence. It is time to get serious about freedom.

[fRtF] 2/16 - Poisoned Spies and Conspiracy Theories

Well it seems the Bush supporters at SMU follow in the footsteps of Bush himself. There are confirmations that signers who support the Presidential Library at SMU, but who merely ask that the records stored there be open to the public, are having their signatures and comments repeatedly deleted.

Truly, why hasn't this war criminal been impeached yet?

Poisoned Spies and Conspiracy Theories, by Garry Reed
www.reasontofreedom.com/poisoned_spies_and_conspiracy_theories.html
The ongoing saga of the former KGB operative offed by a radioactive substance continues to titillate conspiracy connoisseurs. It's the greatest undercover caper since the Twin Towers were secretly booby trapped by government boobies and imploded in league with Islamo-zealot suicide pilots, and reportedly has Kennedy Assassination Plot investigators crawling out from behind their grassy knolls with wild-eyed theories of magic polonium bullets.

[fRtF] 2/9 - SMU: The Battle of Petitions

Thought of the moment:
Please go sign the SMU petition one way or another. It's time to know if this country supports atrocities and illegal activities, or if it has a backbone enough to stand up and speak out against evil.

SMU: The Battle of Petitions, by The Melinda

At Southern Methodist University the spectre of a George W. Bush Library is awakening Methodists to the horror of living cheek and jowl with someone who endorsed torture. This has brought on line petitions that allow Methodists - and all Americans to speak their minds in plain sight, rendering an effective referendum on the Bush presidency.

Playing the I Won't Run game, by Garry Reed
http://www.reasontofreedom.com/playing_the_i_wont_run_game.html
Anyone can hog headlines by running for president. John Kerry is merely the latest master media manipulator to do so by announcing that he's not. Senate Majority Leadercrat Bill Frist not only rejected a 2008 bid for the White House, but is also retiring from politics altogether after serving 12 years as promised. The announcement stunned libertarians who noted that Frist actually served 12 years in the Senate after pledging to serve no more than 12 years in the Senate. Still, others have pointed out that the Tennessee pol remains under investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission for insider trading. Rumors persist that Martha Stewart's old bunk is still available.

[fRtF] 1/26 - NIX ON Bush: Take Back the Republican Party, Install Ron Paul

Thought of the moment:
Late and Thoughtless? Late okay, but never without thoughts... Google and AdSense are giving me a headache, so, if you are a hungry Ad provider drop us a line. MJ

NIX ON Bush: Take Back the Republican Party, Install Ron Paul, by The Melinda
http://www.reasontofreedom.com/nix_on_bush_install_ron_paul.html
When Nixon starts to look warm and fuzzy and kindly you know you have a problem. it is time that all Americans, but particularly Republicans asked, first politely, and then took action to vacate the White House. We have a better idea, and that is swearing in President Paul, a man the Right and Left in America all know they can trust.

[fRtF] 1/19 - Too late to Barr the door

Thought of the moment:
I'm a libertarian, with all the ethical baggage that entails. No cheating, no stealing, no controlling others, and no supporting of those that do. I also once considered myself a proud supporter of the Libertarian Party. Unfortunately the LP has accumulated too many large scale questionable acts for me to continue. This week's article brings to the fore the latest slide of the LP into the dust bin of libertarian history.

Too late to Barr the door, by Garry Reed
http://www.reasontofreedom.com/too_late_to_barr_the_door.html
In the true style of "Do anything to get power" by a politician: Bob Barr --once considered the most fanatical Drug Warrior in Congress-- first loses his 2002 re-election bid, partly though $50,000 in Libertarian Party issue ads, and now in late 2006 accepts a leadership position within the LP. What exactly is the LP thinking?

If you're a member of the Libertarian Party, or even just a frustrated libertarian, you might consider the Boston Tea Party as a less corrupt replacement.

[fRtF] 1/12 - An open letter to the 110th Congress

Thought of the moment:
On our "Latest Good Blogs (offsite)" ( http://www.reasontofreedom.com/latest_good_blogs.html ) page is a link to a very nice fiction piece:

Title -- The Coup: After Midnight
Author -- Claire Wolfe of Backwoods Home
Snippet --

"At that moment -- that very, precise moment -- a deadly slide has started.

"Truly civilized people will stop. They'll say, "Never again. Not one more innocent life will be considered disposable. We will not only stop this. We will stop the attitudes and actions that led to this -- for the sake of all that's decent and just."

"Uncivilized people will yawn and say, "What's on the other channel?" Or worse, they'll hope that the other channel will be playing a reality show in which face-masked cops kick down doors and throw people to the ground while screaming obscenities.

"A society that tolerates that kind of thing -- even once -- is sliding downhill on gravel and broken glass.

"You have to choose. One way or the other. If you make the lazy, ignoble, uncaring choice, you can't honestly call your society free. Or just. Or healthy. Because, 'Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these My brethren, ye have done it unto Me.'"

Hope it resonates with you as much as it did with me,

An open letter to the 110th Congress, by Steve Kubby
http://www.reasontofreedom.com/an_open_letter_to_the_110th_congress.html
On January 3rd, our nation's 110th Congress opened its first session, following an election in which America's voters gave control of both bodies composing that institution to the Democratic Party for the first time in 12 years. Incoming Speaker Nancy Pelosi has announced that the "first 100 hours" of Congressional work time will be spent righting wrongs and pointing American government in a new direction. Change is in the air -- but what kind of change?

[fRtF] 1/5 - 2006: Freedom in the rearview mire

Cheerleader sex scandals seem to be rampant down here in Texas. With the recent MySpace pics of fake fellatio by a few cheerleaders from McKinney North High School (near Dallas), our servers are inadvertently being stress tested. Hopefully the thousands of people hitting our "Texas Cheerleader Sex Scandal" article won't be too disappointed. Granted our article at http://www.reasontofreedom.com/Texas_Cheerleader_Sex_Scandal.html talks about underage girls strutting around in cheerleading outfits and a certain Texas House of Representative Reverend's lecherous thoughts and fantasies . . .

Otherwise, we're still recovering from too many New Year's parties, luckily Garry managed to write something for the front page.

Happy Aspirins,

It's time to play "Year in Review," that game beloved by the MSM (that's cybersay for mainstream media) because, come the new year, journalist types are hung over, bored, unimaginative, and generally find it easier to dig through old headlines than to write something original. No difference here. So, from a hungover, bored, unimaginative libertarian point of bleary view, here's looking at 2006 in the rearview mire.

[fRtF] 12/29 - Are Atheists Normally Socialists?

Due to the holidays, RtF's Newsletter didn't go out last week. Hope you missed us!

Garry's "Man bites dog: straight man outed," held the front page, and is now being replaced by Sandy's "Are Atheists Normally Socialists?" While I'm pretty sure they're not, it is a nice lesson in not allowing the opposition to label you.

Here's hoping everyone has a enjoyable New Year,

Are Atheists Normally Socialists?, by Sandra Price
http://www.reasontofreedom.com/are_atheists_normally_socialists.html
I am what most people call a generic Republican. I apparently fell for the: Limited Government, Individual Freedoms, Personal Responsibilities, and a Balanced Budget crap! ... Is there no hope left in America to try and keep our individual freedoms out of the hands of the religious right?

[fRtF] 12/14 - LIBERTY FOR ALL, by Elizabeth Price Foley

Thought of the moment:
'from Reason to Freedom' seems to be banned in China, if true, we must be doing something right. . .

- Current Article: -
LIBERTY FOR ALL, by Elizabeth Price Foley
http://www.reasontofreedom.com/liberty_for_all_by_elizabeth_price_foley.html
Specifically, I will document and discuss the significance of two foundational principles embodied in the U.S. Constitution: limited government and residual individual sovereignty. I will explore how these twin foundational presumptions evince a morality of American law itself, a set of higher values by which to gauge the legitimacy of ordinary laws. Subordinate to the Constitution are ordinary laws, enacted by a legislative majority, that tell citizens what specific actions are punishable. These ordinary laws often reflect "public morality"--i.e., the passions, prejudices, and moral beliefs of a portion of the citizenry. But are they legitimate exercises of governmental power? Should we restrain our neighbor's liberty because she engages in an activity we consider icky, gross, or just plain wrong? This book will argue that the answer is no because public morality--based laws are immoral exercises of governmental power, inconsistent with the morality of American law.

[fRtF] 12/8 - The Terrorist Whisperers

Thought of the moment:
Ethics should not be like sweaters, changed with the season. . .

- Current Article: -
The Terrorist Whisperers
http://www.reasontofreedom.com/the_terrorist_whisperers.html
Forget x-ray machines and body wands and bomb-sniffing bowwows. The TSA is working on a machine that can uncover terrorists by combining the capabilities of the Horse Whisperer, the Ghost Whisperer and Angela's Eyes. The folks at TSA (Touch and Stroke Agents) want to turn Israeli terror detection techniques into software algorisms so they can catch terrorists. This is because (multiple choice):
a. Americans are obsessed with technology
b. The TSA bureauboobs are obsessed with squandering more of our taxbucks
c. Wand-waving GED-dropout TSA hirelings are untrainable

[fRtF] 12/1 - Americans voted NO on the Bush Administration. Mark December 10th as Impeachment Day

Thought of the moment:
Good men and bad men differ radically. Bad men never appreciate kindness shown them, but wise men appreciate and are grateful. Wise men try to express their appreciation and gratitude by some return of kindness, not only to their benefactor, but to everyone else.

Americans voted NO on the Bush Administration. Mark December 10th as Impeachment Day
http://www.reasontofreedom.com/vote_no_bush_december_10_impeachment_day.thml
American has never seen an administration more corrupt or more arrogant that the one that confronts us lead by George W. Bush. Fed up with the systematic abuse of our freedoms, Americans came out in droves to fire the GOP. Now, it looks like the Democratic contingent moving in will refuse to do what 51% of Americans want, move for impeachment. So Americans are now ready to take action. The Sons of Liberty would recognize them as soul brothers.

Please join the True American Patriots on December 10th and call for impeachment.

[fRtF] 11/24 - An open letter on Iraq

Thought of the moment:

Every freedom won for women in the United States, small or large—wearing bloomers, riding bicycles, not wearing bonnets in church, being permitted to speak in pubic, to attend universities, to enter professions, to vote, and own property—was opposed by the churches.

An open letter on Iraq
http://www.reasontofreedom.com/an_open_letter_on_iraq.html
Since I declared my candidacy for our party's 2008 presidential nomination back in August, one of the most frequently asked questions of me has been "where do you stand on the war in Iraq?" Some of you have found my answers unsatisfactory. I apologize. I've been thinking through a problem and haven't found an answer ... so I'm just going to bring it to you. We need to talk about it.

[fRtF] 11/17 - ID theft, Real ID, and the Wizard of ID

We've received a few complaints that our newsletter hasn't been including "all" the entries from the prior week. Which following our 'rule' set it did (e.g. include everything only from the last Thur. - Wed., which is the pool the next front page article comes from). But according to expectations (e.g. include everything prior to when the newsletter is actually sent) it didn't. So, simplifying the entire problem, the newsletter will now follow expectations for inclusion. And, selection of the next front page will still from the Thur. - Wed. pool, to allow time for selecting (and I'm sure I'll break that 'rule' too sometimes). Now that the water is probably muddier than it started out to be, have a great weekend! ;)

In other news:
Our newsletter system has been repaired. A corrupt file was found and replaced and everything is working properly. But, if you have any problems, just send me a note. (Finding a replacement became more effort than fixing it, but that's usually how it goes. . .)

[fRtF] 11/10 - An open letter to libertarian Republicans

In so much as I am a libertarian, I could easily see myself as a Republican, if they would, or could, clean up their corruption, abandon their willingness to legislate others actions, and accept that all people have the same rights.

For those that have stuck with the Republican party, I truly hope that you make lemonade and make the most of this opportunity.
