Tin Roof Cellars 2006 Chardonnay California
It’s a wine of a somewhat lackluster effort and you might want to ignore the marketing blurb on the back label. You could do worse, but frankly, there are other better choices out there.
It’s a clear, bright shallow to pale straw-yellow wine. There’s a slight fruit aroma for your nose to grab onto, but not much else. The acidity is low as there’s a decidedly “wet” taste to the wine. The tannins are low as you might expect for a chardonnay as well as off-dry to medium dry sweetness. But there’s a short finish if a good balance. A wine better for sipping than dinner, I think, but not the first bottle you might serve.

Wow - you couldn't be more wrong. Ronn Wiegand gave this wine 3+ stars and the '08 Monterey Wine Comp awarded it not only a GOLD, but their coveted Sweeps award. But if your palate is better then theirs I stand corrected... good luck with that.

Like all wine reviews, it's an opinion at best. I try to report on what I taste, not what marketing has to say about a wine and I've read some really great marketing prose. Maybe I should change my handle to joe.wino. And I always urge readers to taste a wine beforehand and NOT rely on my review or any review for that matter as the be all and end all of a wine. Silenus and I have tried wines with 90+ points we've not agreed with, but again, that's our thoughts on it. More importantly, what do you think? In the end, that's what matters. At best, we might be a guide to a great wine.
