Pillitter Estates 2004 Icewine Vidal Canada

OK, I’ll admit it, not cheap, even in the less than split (375 ml) size bottle. But oh, what a way to end a meal, or to start one

It’s got a clear bright deep intense gold color. There’s also some real structure to this wine. As well as some intense flavor since ice wine starts as grapes that have been exposed to sub freezing weather and must be processed as soon as possible or lose the grapes entirely. This situation concentrates the flavor. There are definite honey notes and maybe some apricot undertones. The balance is good with a medium finish. The wine is sweet but much more complex than say a White Zinfandel. And a little goes a long way. Use smaller glasses and/or dole out only a couple of ounces per serving. This is a wine that should be sipped.
