Waring Professional Series 300 Wine Chiller

The product seems to work as advertised, and might have garnered a higher grade save for one glaring defect that I’m surprised got past the design guys. Good as a gift for the wine lover who happens to be hearing impaired. If you are looking for a wine chiller you might want to keep looking.

On a first look the unit looked pretty impressive. Some of its high points are:
1. Sleek looking black and silver color
2. Compact styling.
3. Easy to understand instructions, and very few buttons to push to get the job done.
4. Nice blue LCD screen for inputting the type of wine to heat/cool.
5. Heats or cools the wine depending on bottle temperature.
6. No condensation to worry about damaging the furniture.
7. Handy beep when wine is ready.
8. Can handle any 750ml bottle and perhaps some champagne bottles.

Bad points:
1. I doubt seriously that the wine in the bottle is actually at the prescribed temp on the screen. The glass bottle may have been the right temp, but the wine inside probably not.
2. Amount of time to cool the bottle. Depending on the temperature difference, it might be a wait of an hour or more. It may be best to start any whites in the fridge first.
3. No way to use a bottle larger than 750ml.
4. Remembering to put the “hat” (a foam cover) over the bottle while chilling it.

One Really Bad point.
1. One incredibly noisy fan that forced me to return this thing after trying out two bottles. This fan comes on in either heat or cool mode making conversation in the same room difficult at best. I can only imagine what it would be like if you had 2 of these things running at the same time.
